Overview:
History of the Department: Starting with Commercial Geography, Commercial Arithmetic and Element of Book Keeping since inception of the college on 1948, the Accountancy honours started on1969. Well talented and skilful teachers with potential students create an environment of true knowledge generation.
Objectives of the Department: To impart commerce education within the ambit of general student in well articulated manner so that they can learn about accounting as well as financial management with financial service in accordance with law and tax administration in our economy and management of business and commerce as a whole. At the same time to train the students with the entrepreneurship and project work development skill with environmental knowledge and also disseminate the spirit of research oriented ambiance with in all.

The department has separate class room for each years of Class. Department has its own staff room with well equipped computer and library facilities. The students are provided full pledged computer classes with internet connection in central computer lab. A separate workshop room is also provided to accommodate with the Business Practice and Personality Development classes.

Research Activity:
Both general and honours students are to be undergone with project work and case studies in their course curriculum. Besides this the faculty members are all engaged in several research activities in terms of publication of research articles, presentation of research articles in international, national and state level seminar and symposium and participate in research . The Commerce department has organized a two day UGC sponsored national seminar on ‘Insurance, Bank and Other Allied Financial Service Sectors Reforms in India.’ On 13th & 14th December, 2014. Department also organized a four day Industrial Training Programme for B.Com (G&H) Part-III students in March, 2014.
Publication:
