Department of Geography

The department of Geography (ECUMENE) is a very promising department of Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya, established in 2002. Geography deals with man in a space and so it is called spatial science. Generally, Geography department captures its own space into the core of Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya and spreads the name of this college not only Purba Medinipur District but also the outer surrounding parts of the district.

In the initial year the subject was permitted to be taught honours and general level. Naturally, Twelve (12) batches of Honours students have passed out of the college so far and the success rate of this dept is 100% in 2018. At present there are one (1) Assistant Professor, five (5) Govt. Approved Part-time teachers and one (1) Laboratory Attendant who are sincerely managing the dept. All faculties are engaged in Research activities in different fields in Geography and Geology.

Three laboratories cum class rooms are present in this department. Teaching trough LCD Projector and lecture method, display of Model, chart, map etc. Student’s seminar also conducted the department throughout the session. Spot visit and excursion are the regular practice for the department.

There has employment opportunity in WBSSC, WBCS, WBCSC, Urban planner and Rural Development officer etc. both honors and general students. After completing honors graduation they can admit in MSc on the Remote Sensing and GIS.
